Alex On The Beach Tours

Tourism Service in Brasilito, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Alex On The Beach Tours works from Playa Matapalo, a short hop from Brasilito on Guanacaste's northern Pacific coast. The same road runs toward Huacas, Flamingo, and Tamarindo. This is a licensed local operator and a member of the Touristic Association of Matapalo Beach.

Land tours stay private to your group. The price already covers air-conditioned transport, drinks, a bilingual guide, park entrance, and lunch. Combined and custom itineraries are available, with rates built around how many people travel together. If you want a full inland day, a short ATV loop, a zip line, a catamaran, or fishing, the list is already split that way.

Inland volcano, forest, and river days

The off-the-beach list is built for a full day away from the sand. Mega Combo Volcano Experience is the core volcano outing, starting at $170. Miravalles Volcano Super Combo goes farther inland from $185. Arenal Volcano / Hot Springs pairs the volcano with thermal water from $225.

Magic Tour groups waterfalls, a volcano, and rainforest from $200. Guachipelín Adventure Tour is a full-day trip away from the coast at the same starting price. These are long days that leave early and return late. They need a clear calendar, not a second paid activity stacked on top.

Wildlife days have their own names. Wildlife Safari Tour starts at $175. Palo Verde River Jungle Safari is the more compact river option at $120. Monteverde Cloudy Rain Forest is the cloud-forest day, cooler and farther, from $225.

Nicaragua Volcano Expeditions starts at $200 and crosses a border. A passport and extra time at immigration are part of that day. Private transport is the practical difference on this coast. A vehicle can start in Matapalo or Brasilito and stay with your group. You do not need the Tamarindo shuttle or the Huacas bus for those long inland days. Pick the habitat first: river wildlife, highland forest, or volcano heat. Then choose one full-day title.

ATVs, the Congo Trail, sailing, and fishing

On and near the beach, ATV Tours and the Zip Line Canopy Tour on the Congo Trail are the shorter adrenaline options. The zip line starts at $75. ATVs start at $100. ATV rides last about two and a half hours, stay private to your group, and can include hotel pickup in Guanacaste.

The machine, a guide, and a cooler with ice come with the outing. Drinks and lunch do not. Routes may run through towns, seasonal river crossings, forest trails, and white-sand beaches. There is time to stop at a beachfront bar. The format is not wheelchair accessible. It is a poor match for pregnancy, back problems, or serious heart conditions.

Catamaran Sailing Trip starts at $105. Sport fishing is quoted by consultation. Boat time, target species, and weather windows belong in that conversation before you go. Morning departures usually mean calmer Pacific water. Dry-season afternoons often bring wind.

Fitting a tour into a Brasilito or Matapalo day

Match duration to the rest of your stay before you lock a date. An ATV loop or Congo Trail zip line still leaves room for a Brasilito swim and sunset. A catamaran or fishing trip wants a clear half or full day and a quiet evening. Volcano, Palo Verde, Monteverde, Arenal, and Nicaragua days leave early and return late. They pair well with a late dinner in town, not with another paid outing.

Brasilito is the low-key town beach next to Matapalo. It is a wide golden strand with sodas for seafood and gallo pinto. The shell shore at Playa Conchal is a short hop away. Route 180 ties Brasilito to Tamarindo in one direction and toward Huacas and Flamingo in the other.

A shared shuttle from Tamarindo is about fifteen minutes. The public bus toward Huacas or Flamingo is cheaper and slower, often around 500 to 1,000 colones and about half an hour. Neither is a comfortable way to meet a dawn volcano departure. That is why the included private transport on land tours matters for the long inland days.

If you have only one inland day from this beach, choose the habitat you care about. Palo Verde and the wildlife safari favor river and jungle wildlife. Miravalles, the Mega Combo, and the Magic Tour favor volcano and forest terrain. Arenal pairs the volcano with hot springs. Monteverde is the cloud-forest contrast to Guanacaste's dry hills. Nicaragua is only worth the border time if the volcano itself is the point of the trip.

What is actually in the price

Beach kiosks and resort desks sell overlapping volcano, ATV, and sailing products. The useful comparison is what sits inside the rate and whether the vehicle is private. Land tours here are private and already bundle transport, drinks, a bilingual guide, park entrance, and lunch. That is the line to hold up against a cheaper quote that leaves tickets or food out.

The details that change the day are simple. Who is driving and who is guiding matters. So does the split between hours on the road and hours on a trail or boat. For ATVs, the week's mix of rivers or beach trails matters. For fishing, boat size and the departure beach matter. For Nicaragua, documents and immigration time shape the whole clock.

Daniel Peralta has worked in tourism since 2012. Sergio González is a Pacific-coast partner with a background in gastronomy, surfing, and volunteer work on turtle conservation, beach cleanups, and forest-fire prevention.

Heat, seasons, and what to put in the bag

Guanacaste's dry months, roughly December through April, mean hot inland drives, dusty ATV tracks, and clearer volcano views. Green season, roughly May through November, means greener forest and more water in rivers and falls. Afternoon rain is more likely then on the Monteverde and Arenal roads. Pack for the habitat, not for a generic beach day.

A swimsuit and dry clothes belong in the bag for hot springs or a waterfall stop. Closed shoes and a light layer belong on cloud-forest days. A hat and sunscreen belong on every boat and beach outing. Bring a passport for Nicaragua. Bring small cash for an ATV beach-bar stop, where food and drinks are extra.

On private land tours, lunch is already included. The extras are insect repellent, any medication you need in the heat, and walking shoes the park will accept. The comfortable rhythm from Brasilito or Matapalo is included transport, one focused outing, and a drop-off that still leaves time for a soda dinner.

Keep Monteverde, Arenal, and Nicaragua off the same date as sailing or fishing. Those transfer days run long. Palo Verde and Miravalles are the more compact inland choices from this stretch of coast. ATVs and the Congo Trail zip line are the ones that still leave you a beach afternoon.

Pickup times depend on the destination. Message +506 8758 3957 or alexonthebeach.cr@gmail.com with your hotel, dates, group size, and which tours you want to run or combine. After a short ATV or zip-line morning, leave room for Conchal or a Brasilito sunset.
