A course needs calendar space. Layout, ocean time, and group size vary by date. Nearby residents can space sessions through the week. Short-stay visitors should leave a spare morning so weather does not collide with a flight home.

Talk plainly about ears, recent flights, and how you feel in open water. Depth is not a menu item you pick in advance. Describe your background so they can place you on a course or an open tour. Buddy diving is the rule. Site choice factors in tide, wind, current, and time of year.

Spearfishing the reefs and blue water

Spearfishing runs as private charters and guided hunts out of Flamingo Bay. Nearshore days work reefs around Las Catalinas and Potrero. Longer runs push into Pacific blue water. An all-day format is listed at about eight hours. It can include a short introduction for newer hunters, a longer reef hunt, lunch, and basic gear.

Liberia is the usual airport for this stretch of coast. The drive to Flamingo takes a real piece of a morning after a late landing. Put breath-hold days after you have slept. Equalizing is easier when you are not still stiff from the plane.

Season still shapes the water. Clearer days often line up with drier months, along with more boat traffic. Green season can still work. Humpbacks are a seasonal maybe on Catalinas snorkel runs. Prefer earlier dates in a short trip so a rough morning can move.

This is not a walk-in shop with a reliable open sign. Ocean days start by agreement, not by a posted shop clock. Set the arrival time when you reserve. Reconfirm the day before if wind or swell is building.
