Boos Adventures runs sport fishing, snorkeling, and surf charters from the sand at Playa Potrero in Guanacaste. Captain Christian Boos founded the operation and still goes out with a local crew. The three-boat fleet has run charters off Potrero for 18 years.

The core choice is a fishing day, a snorkel day, a surf run to remote breaks, or a custom mix. Message with your date, group size, and which of those you want. Charters run year-round.

Pacific fishing from inshore reefs to blue water

Pesca covers inshore and offshore sport fishing. Species named for these trips are roosterfish, cubera snapper, jack crevalle, yellowfin tuna, and sailfish. Catch-and-release is part of the fishing program, with sailfish handled for release.

Use that list to shape the day you want. Roosterfish and cubera snapper point toward an inshore-leaning plan close to the coast. Yellowfin tuna and sailfish point toward more range and more time away from the beach. Mixed groups can start inshore and only push out if time and conditions allow.

Rates are USD for the whole boat, not per person. They include the boat, captain, crew, fuel, and gear. A fishing license is not included. Bait, food, and drinks are arranged with the captain. Bring polarized sunglasses, a sun shirt, and shoes that can get wet. Pack motion-sickness tablets if you need them, and keep jewelry off the boat.

Easy snorkel days around Roca Bruja

Snorkeling trips glide through North Pacific water around the islands and Roca Bruja. They are easy, family-friendly outings. That matters if you are traveling with children or with people who do not want a full day of casting. All ages are welcome on the boats.

Wear a shirt in the water and stay off the reef with your feet. Tell the captain about ear issues or anxiety in open water. A long-sleeve sun shirt and a dry bag make the ride home more comfortable.

Boat access to Witch's Rock and Ollie's Point

Surf charters run to remote breaks near Witch's Rock and the Potrero coastline, including Ollie's Point. These are boat-access waves you reach from Playa Potrero. The charter is the logistics, not a paddle from a hotel beach.

Share how many surfers are going, board counts, and the group's ability range. Non-surfers can ride along if the boat still has a safe place for them to sit. Bring a leash, wax, a spare fin, water, and a rash guard. Boards need careful handling at a Potrero beach launch, especially on a low tide. Agree on a back-to-the-beach time before you leave.

If the swell is too small, too large, or poorly angled, another day may be the better call. A blown swell can pivot to snorkeling or a full reschedule. Raise that choice with the captain before you launch.

Combo trips and The Booze Cruise

You can build a custom day instead of picking a single activity. Named combinations include fishing plus snorkel, surf plus snorkel, surf plus fishing, and snorkel plus sunset. A family that wants a short fish and a reef stop is a different day than surfers who also want last light on the water.

The Booze Cruise is a private afternoon charter aboard the Bachata. It runs from 2:00 PM until sunset. The plan is to snorkel, stop at a beach, then run back with the sunset. Water, juices, beers, fruit, and chips and salsa are on board. The whole-boat price is $1,200 USD for up to six guests, plus $150 per extra guest to a maximum of eight. It leaves from Potrero / Flamingo bay.

Three boats, morning starts, and a sand launch

Match the boat to your group size and how far you want to run. Agua Pipa is a 22-foot sportfisher with a single 200 HP engine and room for up to five guests. It has a small bathroom and is built for inshore work: roosterfish, jack crevalle, and snapper along the coast. Half-day inshore windows on this boat run 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Solo Good is 29 feet with twin 200 HP engines and room for up to six guests. It is the offshore-leaning boat in the middle of the fleet. Six-hour and eight-hour charters on this hull can run inshore or offshore.

Bachata is a 31-foot Bertram with twin 370 HP Cummins diesels. The base rate covers six guests. A seventh and eighth guest are $150 each. There is a shaded cabin, a fighting chair on a full walk-around deck, and a bathroom. All three boats have a bathroom on board.

Fishing charters come in four-hour, six-hour, and eight-hour blocks. Morning fishing departures are at 7:00 AM. Whole-boat prices change on November 15, 2026, so get the number that matches your date. Payment is coordinated with the captain by Zelle from the United States, or by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Meeting at Pleamar and locking the plan

Meet the crew on the beach in front of Pleamar Restaurant, Playa Potrero. If you are staying in Playa Flamingo, allow a few extra minutes for the short hop and for parking near the sand. Wear clothes you can get wet. If you are coming from farther inland in Guanacaste, build transfer time into the morning.

There is no fixed weekly timetable. Treat this as an appointment. A first message should include the activities you want, the number of adults and children, board or angler counts, and any seasickness notes. From there, lock the meeting time, the boat, passenger count, duration, and what the price includes.

Cancellations made 72 hours or more before departure receive a full refund. Inside 72 hours, and for no-shows, the trip is non-refundable. If Boos Adventures cancels for unsafe weather or sea conditions, you may reschedule or receive a 100% refund. Rain or a cloudy forecast alone does not qualify.

Pack extra drinking water, a long-sleeve sun shirt, a dry bag, and a change of clothes for the ride back toward Flamingo. Then send the date and crew size to Captain Christian on WhatsApp or email, and get the beach time before you wade in at Potrero.
