Casa Mimosa
Hotel & Accommodation in Playa Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Casa Mimosa is a small vacation compound in Playa Flamingo, a short walk from the white sand of Flamingo Beach. Two renovated three-bedroom condos share a palm-lined yard, a swimming pool, and an outdoor kitchen, with covered balconies that look over the estuary. The stay is set up for families and groups who want a full kitchen and a pool between walks to the bay, rather than a hotel room on the marina.
The Two Condos
Buena Vista and Poolside are the two residences offered for stays. Buena Vista has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeps eight, and looks toward the ocean and the estuary. Poolside also has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeps six, and looks toward the pool and the estuary. In Poolside, each bedroom is furnished with a king bed.
The condos can be reserved together when a larger party wants both living rooms and both kitchens on the same gated property. Poolside does not allow pets, and that unit is rented to guests 18 and older. An optional meal service is available there for a fee paid at check-in, and you can hire a housekeeper instead of cooking every meal.
Capacity is the cleanest way to choose. Six people fit Poolside; eight fit Buena Vista. Two families traveling together often want both units so children can nap in one condo while dinner happens in the other. If you only need one kitchen, pick the view you care about: ocean from Buena Vista, pool from Poolside.
Pool, Grill, and Gated Yard
The shared pool has furniture and floaties. A gas grill sits in the outdoor kitchen, with an outdoor dining area for meals after a swim. The yard and driveway are gated and enclosed, with on-site staff and security. Estuary-view balconies and mountain and water views are part of the layout, along with tropical landscaping around the pool.
Beach towels and chairs come with the stay, which makes the short walk to Flamingo Beach easier. Poolside has a hammock and patio. Laundry is on the property, so a week of sand and swimwear does not have to fill a suitcase on the way home.
A shared pool on a two-condo lot is different from a resort deck. Midday is the natural time to use it in Guanacaste, when the beach sand is hottest. Evenings tend to move toward the grill and the balcony. If both condos are occupied, treat the pool and outdoor kitchen as common space and settle a simple meal plan with the other household on day one.
Kitchens, Bedrooms, and Indoor Comfort
The condos are newly renovated, with open living areas, designer furnishings, and tiled bathrooms. Each has a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The Poolside kitchen includes a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and stove. Covered balconies are set up for dining with a view.
Every bedroom has a private ensuite, hair dryers, quality linens, and towels. Security safes are in every bedroom. Rooms are air-conditioned, with high-speed fibre optic wifi and TVs. High chairs and baby playpens are available if you are traveling with an infant.
Self-catering is the point of this layout. Shop at the grocery store at the north end of Flamingo Bay, cook in the kitchen or on the gas grill, and eat on the balcony. Restaurant nights are close enough that you do not need a long drive: Coco Loco Beach Restaurant is a few minutes away, and the marina and the north end of the bay add more tables. Mix cooked-in breakfasts with marina dinners so you are not in the kitchen every night of a beach week.
Flamingo Beach, the Marina, and the Next Bays
Flamingo Beach is about a one- to two-minute walk, close enough for a morning on the sand and a sunset walk without starting a car. The bay is known for broad sand and Pacific sunsets. At the north end of Flamingo Bay there are restaurants, golf cart rentals, souvenir shops, and a grocery store.
The Flamingo Marina has medical services, additional restaurants, and tour operators. Catamaran tours, deep-sea fishing boats, and scuba diving excursions leave from that side of town. Medical and dental offices are also nearby in the Flamingo area.
Potrero Beach is the next bay north, a different shoreline if you want a change of scene without a long transfer. Brasilito Beach and Conchal Beach sit to the south, each with its own character. Tamarindo is the farther evening outing for a denser restaurant and nightlife strip. Golf is nearby if someone in the group would rather play a round than book a boat.
A day in this stretch of Guanacaste works well in three pieces: beach in the cooler morning, pool and lunch at the condo through the strong afternoon sun, then marina, grocery, or sunset on Flamingo. Save Conchal, a fishing charter, or Tamarindo for a day when you have a rental car, golf cart, or a booked shuttle, because those are not walkable in the same way as Flamingo Beach.
Getting Here and Moving Around Town
The property is about an hour from Liberia's international airport, the usual arrival point for this coast. Golf carts, rental vehicles, and shuttles are straightforward to arrange in Flamingo. For a stay that never leaves the bay, walking and a golf cart cover the beach, grocery, and marina. For Potrero, Brasilito, Conchal, or a day in Tamarindo, a car or prearranged ride is the more comfortable plan, especially with beach gear and groceries.
Afternoon flights into Liberia often put you at the condo in time for a first sunset on Flamingo rather than a first-day tour. Ocean trips from the marina run better as full mornings after you have unpacked and shopped. The walk-to-beach layout means the core of the day does not depend on traffic on the Flamingo road.
Planning the Stay
When you are choosing among Flamingo vacation condos, match sleep count, kitchen needs, and how far you want to walk to the sand. Casa Mimosa is a two-unit, three-bedroom-each option with a shared pool, not a marina tower and not a single private villa. Buena Vista is the ocean-view, sleeps-eight choice. Poolside is the six-person, pool-view choice. Together they give you two full kitchens and two sets of ensuites on one gated lot.
Before you book, decide whether you want one condo or both, whether a housekeeper or the Poolside meal service would actually get used, and whether you need high chairs or a playpen on site. Pack light on linens and beach towels; those are provided. Bring sunscreen, hats, and whatever you need for a boat day. A first-evening grocery run covers breakfast. Keep at least one morning for a marina tour and one for Potrero or Conchal so the week is not only the walk between the pool and Flamingo Beach.
For residents hosting visiting family, the two-condo setup is a practical way to put relatives next door without sharing every bathroom. For visitors, it is a walkable Flamingo base with enough kitchen and laundry to stay a week without eating out three times a day. The marina, the grocery, and the sand are the triangle that makes the location work; the pool and grill are what make the hot hours at home useful.
