A Tequila Stage is part of the room. A daytime pause can become a louder night without changing venues. On-site beer, burgers, a stage, and live sports are why this stop differs from a quiet cafe or a late club.

Tuesday karaoke, sports, and walk-in seating

Coconutz does not take reservations, so arrival time is how you get a seat. Arrive early on karaoke nights, live-music nights, and major sporting events if you want a preferred table or a clear view of the stage.

Karaoke is weekly, every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. You pick a song and take the microphone. If Tuesday is your only free evening, treat 7:00 p.m. as a real start time and expect the room to fill.

Live sports are part of the regular offering. Live music is scheduled around the Tequila Stage when a band is booked. Nights change. The same phone call that covers kitchen hours can also cover what is on the screens and whether a band is playing.

Why the town name matters before you leave

Playas del Coco, also called Coco Beach, sits in Guanacaste on a horseshoe bay of dark volcanic sand. The water is generally calm. It is a working beach town with fishing boats, tour desks, restaurants, and nightlife, not a secluded cove. Liberia International Airport is about 30 minutes away. That makes Coco a common first or last night for people flying into the province.

Playa Flamingo is a different town on the same coast. If your lodging is in Flamingo, this bar is not a short walk from your rental. Plan a drive or taxi, and give the driver Playas del Coco, not Flamingo.

A typical Coco day starts on the bay. People swim, take a boat, snorkel or dive toward the Catalina Islands or Bat Islands, or go sport fishing. Then they shift into town for food and music. A walk-in brewery bar fits that pattern if you leave the beach early enough to get a seat. That matters most on Tuesday and during a big game.

In the dry season, from December through April, afternoons are often 85–95°F (29–35°C). Shade matters. In the green season, from May through November, showers are more common. An open-air room can still work in rain, but seating comfort depends on the weather that day.

How to choose a brewery bar on this coast

Guanacaste has several craft breweries and many beach bars, and they do different jobs. Before you give up an evening, decide whether you need beer brewed on site, a specific game on a screen, live music, or karaoke. Those are four different nights, even if they happen in similar rooms.

Coconutz is set up to handle those in one place: house beer, sports viewing, and a stage, with burgers and fries. That is not the same as a taproom with no kitchen. It is also not a quiet restaurant with one television, or a club that starts late.

A quiet meal is a poor match for Tuesday after 7:00 p.m. A burger and a game can be enough reason to stay in Coco. They may not be enough reason to transfer from Flamingo.

Getting there, what to bring, and when to arrive

The usual path into Playas del Coco is a flight into Liberia, then a rental car, taxi, or arranged transfer of about half an hour. Public buses also reach town. From Flamingo, Playa Hermosa, Ocotal, or the Papagayo area, plan on a car or taxi. A late bus is a poor bet if you stay for a band or a match.

Build extra time into the ride. On Tuesday, karaoke starts at 7:00 p.m., so a late arrival makes a preferred table harder to find. On a major game, arrive before kickoff. On a music night, be seated before the band begins.

For a daytime visit, bring sun protection. This is an open-air, tree-shaded space in a hot coastal town. Beach-to-bar clothing is fine. Bring a way to pay, a charged phone for WhatsApp, and a plan for the ride home. House beer to go comes packed on ice, which travels better on a short ride than in a hot car.

Downtown Coco is compact, with markets, tour operators, and other restaurants nearby. Auto Mercado is a practical grocery stop for water and snacks. Nightlife in Coco generally runs later than in quieter coves. This bar can be the whole evening or the first stop of a longer night.

A simple plan for Coco, or a transfer from Flamingo

If you are already in Playas del Coco, start with water time in the morning. Take a shaded table when you want a house beer. Decide in the late afternoon whether to stay for karaoke, a game, or a band. You cannot book a table, so arrival time is the only control you have.
