Conchal Adventures Jet Ski & Horses meet place

Tourism Service in Playa Conchal, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Playa Conchal sits on Guanacaste's coast beside Brasilito, with Flamingo and Potrero along the same shore. Conchal Adventures runs jet ski time, horseback rides on the sand, ATV loops, and longer nature days from this beach. Guests are collected at resort lobbies or vacation-rental parking lots.

Half-day water time and all-day van trips split the menu. Jet ski rentals, the ATV beach loop, horseback riding, and a surf lesson can fill a morning or late afternoon and still leave sand time. Chocolate, rainforest, and safari days run from 6:00 a.m. until 4:30 or 5:30 p.m.

Private jet ski time along Conchal, Brasilito, and Flamingo

Jet ski outings are private. Guided tours last one or two hours and require two machines, unless you pay extra for a guide on a single ski. After a safety briefing, the route can include Brasilito Beach, Flamingo, Potrero Bahia, Penca, Prieta, and Sugar Beach. It can also reach Danta and Dantita, Playitas, Honeymoon Beach, Los Loros, Plata Island, and Las Chacha Erisas. Sometimes the Panaguastes Islands are on the path.

The two-hour tour stops at a beach for snorkeling or a walk. Birds, dolphins, and sea turtles use these waters. Whales appear in season. Timed rentals run 30 minutes or one hour and can start when you want. Waverunners stay within about two miles of the beach you leave. Ride solo or with a passenger.

A one-hour rental allows two rider changes. A half-hour rental allows one. Safety gear is included. Bring a waterproof camera, sunblock, sunglasses, and a swimsuit. In the windy dry months, late morning through mid-afternoon can wear you out if you are not an experienced rider. Morning and later-afternoon slots are the easier window.

Stay in the marked area and keep off the shoreline and rocks on a rental. Cash prices are $90 for 30 minutes, $130 for a one-hour rental, $160 for a one-hour tour, and $190 for a two-hour tour. A single-machine tour with a guide is $230.

ATV beach loops and the steeper high trails

The ATV Beach Tour lasts three hours, can be private or grouped, and needs two machines at minimum. An air-conditioned van collects you at the resort and reaches the ATV lot in about fifteen minutes. Guides brief you on shifting and the hand signals for turns and stops. Then they lead the ride past Puerto Viejo, Minas, Piratas Bahia, and Pedregosa Beach.

Watch for monkey families, iguanas, and birds. Slow down in towns for dogs, chickens, and cows. Pack a swimsuit for a dip and sneakers for the ride. The outing includes safety gear, water, and a bilingual guide. Suggested pickups are 8:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m., with a return about 3.5 hours later.

In hot months, 8:00 a.m. or after 1:30 p.m. is more comfortable, and a bandana helps with dust. Cash rates are $100 per machine or $120 for two people sharing one. ATV Top of the World is the harder sibling: rugged terrain, steep slopes, hidden trails, and high views.

Horses, surf, fishing, and the rest of the coastal menu

Horseback riding takes place on Conchal Beach, with helmets and the open sand and water as the setting. Surf lessons run on the same beach. The wider menu also includes scuba diving, half-day family fishing, and full-day offshore fishing. There is a sunset catamaran cruise on the Flamingo side, whitewater rafting, and kid-friendly zip lining.

A volcanic hike puts Rincon de la Vieja in view. A Mega Combo full day mixes adventure and culture. Private shuttles run to Liberia Airport. A Monkey Cruise on the Palo Verde rivers is the shorter wildlife boat option when you do not want a full inland day. Beach products leave room for a swim and a meal in Brasilito the same day. Full-day fishing, the catamaran, and airport shuttles need their own block on the calendar, especially around flight times.

Rainforest, chocolate, and wildlife days inland

Private inland days leave around 6:00 a.m. and spend about 2.5 hours on back roads through villages and mountains. The Rainforest and Sloth tour goes to Tenorio Volcano National Park and Rio Celeste. Roughly 45 minutes of hiking reaches Cascada de Rio Celeste, the light-blue waterfall.

You can swim in a safe stretch of the river outside the park. Afterward, a family farm between Tenorio and Miravalles hosts an easier 40-minute walk. Two sloth species, frogs, toucans, and crested guans use the property. Lunch is casado with natural juice and Costa Rican coffee. Return is around 4:30 p.m.

Cash rates are $165 per person for four guests, $185 for three, and $240 for two. The hike has steps and heat, so it is a poor match for heart, knee, or hip problems. Parks want passport, ID, or license numbers for reservations. Single-use plastic bottles are not allowed, so bring a reusable bottle.

The Authentic Chocolate tour uses the same early pickup and a 2.5-hour drive to a Tenorio farm. You follow cacao from tree to bar, see traditional sugar-cane processing, and taste handmade chocolate, with rainforest botany along the way. The day also stops at Llanos del Cortez waterfall for a short hike and swim.

There is a sloth sanctuary for sloths, toucans, white-faced monkeys, frogs, and insects, plus a butterfly garden. Lunch is casado with rice, beans, plantains, salad, and a protein. Return is around 5:30 p.m. Cash rates are $180, $200, or $265 per person for four, three, or two guests.

The Wildlife Safari Tour starts at Llanos del Cortez for photos and a swim, then a roughly two-hour river float. Monkeys, birds, crocodiles, and basilisk lizards use that stretch. A local restaurant serves casado. A 30- to 45-minute farm walk is built around seeing more than three sloths.

Red-eyed frogs, poison-dart frogs, toucans, and white-faced monkeys are possible. A butterfly garden includes the blue morpho. Pickup is 6:00 a.m. and return about 4:30 p.m. The day includes entrance fees, a raft, water, and fruit. Cash rates are $185, $220, or $265 per person for four, three, or two. Extra sunblock matters on the river.

How to match a tour to your group and your day

Match the format to your group. Jet ski tours, chocolate, rainforest, and safari are private. Inland days need at least two guests. The ATV beach ride can be private or grouped and is priced by the machine, which matters if two people will share a quad. Decide how many machines you need and whether children will ride. Also decide whether you meet at the beach, an ATV lot, or your lobby.

For park days, have identification numbers ready. Mention heart, knee, or hip limits before a 6:00 a.m. pickup, because the rainforest and chocolate hikes use steps and heat. Four paying adults is the usual point at which child discounts are considered on those inland tours.

If you stay in the Conchal-Brasilito hotel zone, the van is already part of most inland and ATV products. Rental-house guests are collected at the parking lot. A private shuttle to Liberia Airport connects a flight without keeping a car for one transfer. A 4:30 p.m. rainforest return and a Flamingo sunset catamaran do not share an evening well. Keep the Monkey Cruise in mind if you want wildlife without giving up the whole beach day.

What to pack and a two-day rhythm that works

For jet ski and ATV, pack swimsuits, sunglasses, and sunblock. ATV riders add sneakers, a change of clothes, and a bandana. Inland days add hiking shoes, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera with some reach for sloths and toucans. Extra clothes, a towel, and a reusable water bottle belong in the same bag.

Vans carry a cooler of water, but parks bar one-time plastic. ATV, chocolate, rainforest, and safari pickups are at the resort lobby or home-rental lot. Jet ski timing is the slot you choose. Returns are about 3.5 hours after an ATV start, 30 minutes to two hours for jet ski, and late afternoon for Tenorio. Payment is in cash.

One early inland day, one morning on jet skis or horses, and an open afternoon on the sand is a rhythm that matches the mix. After a 4:30 p.m. return, walk into Brasilito for dinner rather than stacking a sunset cruise the same night.
