Dunama Hotel
Tourism Service in Playa Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Dunama Hotel is a Playa Flamingo stay in Guanacaste built around guest rooms, a pool, a restaurant, a bar, a casino, and a hidden beach reached from the property. It sits on Flamingo Beach Road near Flamingo Marina, close enough that a morning on the sand, a boat outing, and an evening on site can share the same day. Playa Potrero is a short drive away, so the hotel works as a base for both coves without changing towns.
Rooms that match couples, families, and groups
The hotel publishes numbered room types, and those numbers are the practical way to book. Garden Standard rooms, listed as Room 100, face the garden and include a family layout for four people. Balcony Garden Standard rooms, Room 200, add a balcony over the garden. Standard Terrace Sea View rooms, Room 300, look toward the water from a terrace.
Standard Balcony Sea View rooms, Room 400, sleep two in a king bed with a closet, mini bar, coffee maker, television, air conditioning, and a balcony. A Balcony Family Sea View version of that category uses two queen beds and sleeps four. Standard Swim Up rooms, Room 500, and the Family Pool View layout open directly to the pool and are sized for four. Standard Balcony Ocean View rooms, Room 600, and Balcony Family Ocean View rooms also sleep up to four and face the ocean.
Apartments, Room 700, are the self-catering option for six to eight guests. They include two to four queen beds, a fridge, microwave, electric stove, coffee maker, a four-seat dining table, dishes and pans, one or two televisions, two air conditioners, a ceiling fan, and a closet. They do not have a sea, garden, or pool view, and furnishings can vary by apartment. Couples who want a water outlook should start with a terrace or balcony sea-view room. Families deciding between garden quiet, pool access, and an ocean balcony should compare the 100, 500, and 600 series.
Groups who will cook some meals will get more from a 700 apartment than from a standard room.
Pool, restaurant, bar, and casino
Days on property tend to orbit the pool, where drinks are served in the sun, and the restaurant, which plates Costa Rican-inspired dishes. The bar is set for a drink with a view, and Costa Silvestre is the name used for the bar and restaurant, including cocktails such as the Pura Vida Dunama. Air conditioning in the rooms and free Wi-Fi make it easy to return at midday, cool off, and go out again.
The casino is the on-site evening entertainment, so dinner and a later hour in the casino can stay in the same building. Cigarettes and vapes are not allowed in common areas. Overnight guests check in at 3:00 pm, check out at 11:00 am, and wear a bracelet during the stay. A later departure is charged as an extra night. People who are not staying overnight can buy a day pass at the front desk for fifteen U.S. dollars per adult and ten dollars per child over two, which is how visitors use shared spaces such as the pool and restaurant.
Outside visitors are not allowed into guest rooms.
Hidden beach, massages, and pet stays
A hidden beach has direct access from the hotel, which is useful when you want a quieter shoreline than the main Flamingo strand. Ocean-view massages are available from professionals on the property. Beach equipment rental is available if you want chairs and shade for a longer stretch on the sand.
Pets are accepted with fees and limits. The standard charge is twenty U.S. dollars for a small pet and forty dollars for a medium or large pet per stay. Rooms numbered 500, 600, and 700 do not allow pets. Animals must remain on a leash, use their own bedding, stay with their owner, and stay out of the restaurant and pool. They may not sleep on in-room furniture, pool loungers, or bungalow cushions, and they may not be left in a room or a parked car. Owners clean up after them and cover any damage.
Bring a bed, leash, and waste bags, and request a permitted room type when you reserve.
Weddings, meetings, and celebrating on the coast
The hotel takes quotes for destination weddings, corporate events, and romantic getaways. Guest rooms, a restaurant, a pool, and a marina a few minutes away make a small celebration workable: guests fly into Liberia, sleep on site, and can add a boat or a beach hour without a second hotel. When you request a quote, specify guest count, whether you need a room block, meal timing, and whether the gathering should sit by the water, the garden, or an indoor space.
Arriving from Liberia and moving around Flamingo
The hotel is on Flamingo Beach Road, near Flamingo Marina Resort, Playa Flamingo 50304, Guanacaste. Liberia Airport is about nineteen miles away and is the usual arrival point for this coast. Nosara Beach Airport is much farther south and is not a convenient inbound option. Free parking is available at the hotel. Flamingo Marina is minutes away and is the place for fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, and other boat time. The main Flamingo beach is a short hop, and Playa Potrero is about a five-minute drive, so one rental car covers both beaches, grocery stops, and evening restaurants.
Heat and limited evening transit still favor having a car if you plan to leave the property after dark or to visit both Flamingo and Potrero in one loop. Taxis and private transfers fill the gap if you prefer not to drive.
A full day from pool to Pacific
A straightforward Flamingo day starts after a 3:00 pm arrival the evening before: coffee in the room or a meal at the restaurant, then the pool or the hidden beach while the light is still soft. Late morning is the window for a sail-and-motor catamaran along Guanacaste beaches, with swimming and a picnic on the water, or for a fishing boat looking for barracuda, marlin, and dorado. Those trips leave from the marina, so pack water, a hat, and sunscreen before you go.
Afternoons inland suit canopy lines, horseback rides on local trails, or ATV loops if you want landscape instead of salt water. Return for a shower, a Costa Rican dinner, sunset at the bar, and the casino, or take the short ride into town for another kitchen. When you choose a hotel of this kind in Flamingo, decide first among water view, swim-up access, garden quiet, and a kitchen, then match pet rules and event needs to the room series. Pack for air-conditioned nights, beach entries, and marina mornings.
With those choices set, the stay sits in the middle of Flamingo's beach-and-marina circuit and close enough to Potrero for a second shoreline without a long transfer.
