Hotel Condor Lodge
Hotel & Accommodation in Brasilito, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Hotel Condor Lodge is a small hotel with panoramic-view condos, a bar, and a restaurant on Guanacaste's Gold Coast, very close to Conchal Beach. It sits in the Playa Conchal-Matapalo area, a short hop from Brasilito, and works as a base for travelers who want lodging, a meal, and a swim on the same property before they fan out along the coast.
A small lodge beside Conchal Beach
Conchal is the shoreline most visitors come to see: pale, shell-covered sand and clear water in Santa Cruz canton. Hotel Condor Lodge is very close to that beach. Puerto Viejo Beach, Minas, and Real are about five minutes away. Flamingo and Tamarindo take about 20 minutes by car.
Brasilito is the nearest town fabric, with sodas, small stores, and Playa Brasilito. Large resorts occupy gated land behind Conchal. A lodge in this pocket is not a sand-front beach club and not a golf resort. It is a place to sleep, eat and drink on site, and drive to the water.
Use the map pin from your reservation. The useful mental map is Liberia to the inland towns, then west toward Huacas, Brasilito, and Conchal, with the lodge in the Matapalo-Playa Conchal belt.
Condos, dining, and the pool
Lodging is hotel rooms and panoramic-view condos, including family rooms. Spanish is spoken. On the grounds there is a bar and restaurant, an outdoor pool, parking, Wi-Fi, and laundry service.
The restaurant and bar mean you can eat without driving into town. The pool is the midday alternative to another hour on open sand. Parking lets you keep beach gear in the car and move between coves. Laundry helps on a week-long stay when salt and dust build up. Wi-Fi covers maps, messages, and flight changes.
Traveling with children or several adults? Match family rooms and condos to your group size. If you care about a plate soon after a Liberia arrival, pin down restaurant timing when you book.
Beach-hopping from Brasilito to Tamarindo
Conchal is the morning priority for most first-time visitors. Independent access usually runs through Brasilito and along the beach, so a very close lodge still pairs with a short ride rather than a private gate. Bring water, sun protection, and cash; services on the sand are thinner than at a resort beach club.
When you want a different shore, the five-minute beaches—Puerto Viejo, Minas, and Real—are the easy second stop. They sit on the same Gold Coast strip and feel more local: fewer vendors, lighter traffic, and a slower afternoon.
Flamingo, 20 minutes by car, is the bay-and-marina town, with a longer beach and a denser restaurant cluster. Tamarindo, also about 20 minutes, is the surf town, with lessons, shops, and a busier night. Neither replaces Conchal; they are half-day add-ons. Plan them as drives.
Cars, Liberia, and local roads
A car is the practical way to use this location. Beaches and towns are spread out, and the lodge is not inside a gated resort with internal shuttles. On-site parking makes a two-beach day simple.
Liberia's international airport is about 22 miles away and is the usual arrival point. The drive south and west toward Santa Cruz's beach towns is the standard transfer. Nosara's airstrip is farther south and is not the typical gateway for a Conchal stay.
Allow extra time on the last stretch. Roads around Matapalo, Brasilito, and the Conchal access can be slow, dusty in the dry months, and dark after sunset. If you land in the afternoon, a direct run to the lodge, a swim, and dinner at the restaurant is a kinder first night than pushing on to Tamarindo.
For cash, groceries, and pharmacies, think in towns: Brasilito and Huacas for quick stops, Flamingo for a wider dinner strip, Tamarindo when you need surf shops or a larger service cluster. Keep small bills for beach parking and sodas.
How to choose this kind of Gold Coast stay
The Conchal corridor offers three broad stays: large all-inclusives behind the shell beach, vacation villas inside gated communities, and small hotels and lodges around Brasilito, Matapalo, and Puerto Viejo. Hotel Condor Lodge belongs to the third group, with panoramic-view condos plus a bar, restaurant, and pool.
Pick a small lodge if you want to set your own beach schedule, keep a car, and eat some meals on site. Pick a big resort if you want beach-club logistics and a full activity desk. Pick a pure vacation rental if you will handle every meal yourself and do not need a bar or restaurant downstairs.
Match the room to the trip. Couples can travel light in a hotel room. Families should look at family rooms and condos. The useful questions are how many people the unit sleeps, whether the restaurant will be open on your arrival night, and whether laundry can finish before you leave.
This is not a walkable village hotel. If someone in your group does not want to drive, you will spend more on taxis between Conchal, Brasilito, and Flamingo, and you will use the pool and restaurant more heavily.
Building a day around the lodge
A clean first full day looks like this. Morning: Conchal while the sand is still cool. Midday: back to the lodge for the pool and a restaurant meal. Afternoon: Puerto Viejo, Minas, or Real for another swim close by, or Flamingo for a town beach and a later meal. Evening: the lodge bar, or a short drive into Brasilito.
On a second day, swap in Tamarindo for surf or shopping, then return for a quieter night. Keep Flamingo and Tamarindo as separate outings; stacking both with Conchal in one day burns the drive and the heat.
Pack ordinary Gold Coast kit: strong sun protection, a cover-up for the car and restaurant, shoes you can wear on crushed shells, and a dry bag for the ride back from the beach. For an early coffee before you head to Conchal, Brasilito is the nearby town for a soda stop.
Dry-season days, roughly December through April, are hot, bright, and busy on Conchal. Green-season afternoons bring more rain and fewer people; a pool on site is then as useful as a second beach. Either way, start early, pause at midday, and treat the 20-minute towns as optional.
Hotel Condor Lodge is a simple Gold Coast base: condos and rooms with panoramic views, a bar and restaurant, a pool, and parking, set very close to Conchal with other beaches five minutes away. Sleep and eat here, drive to the water, and keep Flamingo and Tamarindo as easy, bounded excursions.
