OSG Charter
Tours & Activities in Playa Flamingo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
OSG Charter operates from Playa Flamingo on Guanacaste's northern Pacific, running daily and multi-day adventure, surf, and fishing charters. Flamingo sits between Brasilito and Potrero, with Tamarindo a short drive south, so a departure here is convenient if you are already on this bay and a planned transfer if you are staying closer to the estuary. Pickup is at Pleamar Restaurant, a clear meeting point on the Flamingo waterfront.
The calendar splits across fishing, surf, and sunset time on the water, plus longer multi-day runs. That range matters if your group does not all want the same kind of day. One date can be a nearshore or deep-sea fishing trip; another can be a surf run to Witches Rock or a private sunset cruise. Treat them as separate outings when you map the rest of a Guanacaste stay.
Fishing Nearshore and Offshore
Fishing with OSG Charter covers both nearshore water and deep-sea trips. Species on those charters include marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi mahi, and yellowfin tuna, the pelagic mix that has long drawn anglers to Flamingo and the blue water off this coast.
Nearshore versus offshore is the first decision. Nearshore hours usually mean a shorter steam and more time with lines in the water, which suits mixed groups and first-time anglers. Deep-sea days exist for billfish and tuna, with more time running to blue water and a day built around trolling. Match the booking to how far you want to go and how many people will actually fish. If dinner is part of the appeal, talk through which species can return to the dock; billfish on this coast are typically released, while tuna and mahi are more often discussed as table fare.
December through April is Guanacaste's dry season, with bright mornings and a stronger afternoon breeze. May through November is greener, warmer, and more changeable. Early starts are normal in both seasons. Coming from Tamarindo, Langosta, or Conchal, allow real time for the coastal road, not just the hour printed on a map.
Surf Charters to Witches Rock
OSG Charter also runs surf trips to Witches Rock, the exposed left in Santa Rosa National Park. From Flamingo, a boat is the practical way to reach that lineup when the swell is in, without the long overland route into the park.
This is open-ocean surf, not a Tamarindo beachbreak lesson. Intermediate and advanced surfers get more from the point; beginners are usually happier in town. Share how many people are surfing, what boards you have, and whether anyone is only along for the ride. Witches Rock is the named destination; swell and wind still decide whether that run is worth the morning. If the forecast is small, keep the date for fishing or a sunset cruise.
A surf charter still uses most of a morning. Plan a late lunch in Flamingo or Brasilito rather than adding a long inland tour the same day.
Sunset Cruises and Multi-Day Charters
Private sunset cruises offer a slower end to the day, without a full fishing or surf program. They work well for a celebration evening or for visitors who want the coastline at dusk after a morning at Conchal or in Tamarindo.
Adventure charters and multi-day trips are on the same list. Multi-day charters make sense if you want consecutive mornings offshore or a fishing day paired with a surf day. Lodging in Flamingo or Potrero makes those back-to-back starts far easier than commuting from Tamarindo twice. If you have only one ocean day, pick fishing, waves, or sunset and leave the other ideas for another visit.
Sea Señora II is the boat associated with this Flamingo operation. Share your group size when you reserve so the day is set up for the people actually coming.
Pickup at Pleamar and Moving Around Guanacaste
The Flamingo pickup is at Pleamar Restaurant. Drivers should arrive with time to park; streets around the restaurants and marina area fill on weekends and through dry-season holidays. Private drivers and taxis from Tamarindo, the Conchal hotels, and Potrero are a common solution for early departures. Liberia's Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport is the usual gateway, with a drive to Flamingo that is comfortable in light traffic and slower behind afternoon airport traffic or trucks on the road in from Belén.
A full fishing day does not pair well with Rincón de la Vieja, Palo Verde, or a long surf lesson in Tamarindo. A sunset cruise leaves the morning free. A Witches Rock surf run leaves the afternoon free if you still have energy. Flamingo and Brasilito both work for a late breakfast or an early dinner once you are back on land.
Choosing a Charter and Preparing for the Day
Flamingo, Tamarindo, Playas del Coco, and Papagayo all send boats into overlapping Pacific water. Departure point, trip length, and whether you want a private boat are the comparisons that matter. A Flamingo start is the local choice on this bay, a transfer from Tamarindo, and a longer one from Coco or Hermosa.
Be specific about hours on the water, nearshore versus deep-sea, and whether Witches Rock is swell-dependent. For a sunset cruise, settle group size and whether you want to stay close to the bay. Families should make sure everyone wants the same kind of day; a billfish troll and a first visit to the coastline are different mornings.
Pack for Guanacaste sun even on cloudy green-season mornings: hat, long sleeves, sunscreen, polarized glasses, and shoes you can wet. Motion on a run to Witches Rock or blue water is different from a bay cruise. A dry bag for phones and a change of clothes are enough if you are going straight to dinner in Flamingo afterward.
OSG Charter's mix of nearshore and deep-sea fishing for marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi mahi, and yellowfin tuna, surf charters to Witches Rock, private sunset cruises, and daily or multi-day trips gives several ways to use a Flamingo morning or evening. Match the charter to the people in your group, leave time to reach Pleamar, and keep the rest of the day simple once you are back on the sand.
