The Palms Residences
Hotel & Accommodation in Playa Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
The Palms Residences occupies a beachfront strip in Cabo Velas, Guanacaste, where Flamingo Beach is a two-minute walk and Potrero Bay is about sixteen minutes on foot. Playa Potrero sits a seven-minute drive along the same bay, so the community sits between a white-sand cove and the larger Potrero shoreline. Tropical dry forest surrounds the buildings, and howler monkeys move through the canopy beside the residences.
Townhomes facing Flamingo Beach
Palms 23 is a two-bedroom, three-bathroom beachfront townhome in the community that sleeps five as an entire home. The first level holds an open living, dining, and kitchen space plus a full bathroom. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king bed, a desk with two chairs, and an oversized covered balcony with ocean views. The guest bedroom has a double bed and a single bunk, with its own full bathroom. The home is fewer than fifty steps from the sand, with beachfront views through the unit and sliding doors that open to breeze and light.
Air-conditioning runs through the townhome, with high-speed wifi and cable TV. The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances and utensils. A washer and dryer are available, and garage parking comes with the stay. Coffee, filters, salt, pepper, cooking oil, shampoo, and soaps are stocked, as are beach towels, folding beach chairs, and a cooler.
When you choose a home in the community, decide whether you need two bedrooms, three bathrooms, bunk sleeping, a desk, or a covered ocean balcony, and whether fifty steps to the sand is the access you want.
Pools, gardens, and gated grounds
Shared spaces at The Palms include two pools connected by a creek toward the beach, a garden, a fitness center, and a common BBQ area. Lounge chairs and umbrellas sit around the pools and along the sand. The community is gated, with a perimeter fence and guards at the front entrance. Garage parking is available on site.
Flamingo Beach in front of the Palms is white sand and turquoise water in a cove-like setting, with surfers at Flamingo Point. You can walk to the water, then return to the pools or garden when the sun is high. The dry forest at the edge of the property frames that indoor-outdoor rhythm, and Pacific sunsets are the evening backdrop along this shoreline.
Driving from Liberia and moving along the bay
Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia (LIR) is about a ninety-five-minute drive. Tamarindo (TNO) is about a thirty-two-minute drive. From the residences, Flamingo Beach is 0.2 km on foot. Potrero Bay is 1.4 km. Playa Potrero is 3.2 km by car, Conchal Beach 5.6 km (about eighteen minutes), and Tamarindo Beach 24.6 km (about forty-seven minutes).
A car makes Conchal and Tamarindo realistic half-day trips. Days spent on Flamingo's cove can rely on the walk to the sand and garage parking on site. Distances and heat between Flamingo and Conchal make beach-hopping on foot a poor fit.
Beaches, parks, and the shape of a day
Mornings suit Flamingo while the sand is cooler, with time to watch the point if surfers are out. Midday fits the pools, the garden, or a shaded balcony. Potrero Bay is close enough for an afternoon walk or a short drive into Playa Potrero for another shoreline. Conchal Beach is an eighteen-minute drive. Tamarindo is the longer coastal run when you want a busier town.
Monkey Park and Las Baulas National Marine Park are nearby nature stops on the same peninsula. Around The Palms, the dry forest and howler monkeys are already part of the setting.
Evening often means sunset from a balcony or the beach, then a meal cooked in the townhome or a short walk or drive. Surf Box and Amigos Tacos y Beer are about a fifteen-minute walk. Soda Brasilito is about a six-minute drive. Triton Pool Bar and Bamboo Restaurant are about twelve minutes by car. Walk for casual meals; drive when you want a table farther from the sand.
Cooking in, stocking up, and packing
Palms 23's kitchen is fully equipped for breakfasts and simple dinners. Coffee, oil, and basic seasonings are already in that townhome; a grocery stop in Flamingo or Potrero covers the rest. The cooler and beach chairs cut down what you pack for the sand. Bring sunscreen, any prescriptions, sun-protective clothing, and a light layer for air-conditioning after dark.
Travelers with children can use the two pools, the garden, and the bunk bedroom in Palms 23. If you need a crib or high chair, ask when you book.
Picking a Cabo Velas stay
Cabo Velas is the Flamingo-Potrero pocket of Guanacaste, with gated beachfront townhomes behind the sand. Walking time to Flamingo Beach, garage parking, shared pools, and a fitness room are the practical contrasts with a private house farther from the water. A townhome that sleeps five with three bathrooms fits two adults with children or a small group that wants separate bathrooms.
Compare building location, steps to the beach, balcony orientation, and how gate and parking access work for your group. If someone needs to work, look for a desk like the master office in Palms 23. If you cook, confirm the kitchen has the appliances and seating your meals require. Flamingo is the cove in front of the Palms; Playa Potrero adds village services a few minutes away; Tamarindo and Conchal are day trips.
Liberia is the main gateway. Leave time for the ninety-five-minute drive, shop once, then keep the rest of the stay between the pools, Flamingo's sand, and one or two runs to Potrero or Conchal.
