Driving on the coast
Navigation apps are helpful, but a suggested shortcut may not reflect current road surface, water crossings, construction, or a rental agreement. When conditions are uncertain, stay on established routes and ask the rental company or accommodation host before taking an unpaved alternative.
Rain can change visibility and road conditions quickly. Avoid planning a first unfamiliar drive after dark when possible, keep fuel above the minimum needed for the return, and never enter moving or unknown-depth water.
